A deep, rich, truly sprawling historical piece.

With visually stunning cinematography and haunting music and more than
plenty of historical characters with mutual nobility and fault(s) alike upon which to draw.

And what a time to be alive...
This, WW II, Alex' the Great on the end around... not many military moments
in the history of the Human Race rival this. Though this one -of course-
has so very many other elements blatantly woven into its very
fabric. The Religious side second to none. Politics.
Alliance building | alliance crumbling.
Mercy and mercilessness.

And even though I'm not real real tall on Ridley Scott, this is his best
terrestrial work by far. And nearly right there with Blade Runner and the Aliens franchise.

Heckuva a spanning XXXL sized on-screen effort and tale.
